“How to Faux Previews”
“Plaster For Niches, Fantasy Marble, Faux Tortoise Shell, Tissue Faux Texture”
Finally, after a bit of a break in commissions, I found the time to update my DVD list.
“Plaster For Niches”
I Have also started a download page for a few of my DVD’s where they can be bought and/or rented here at
How to Faux Downloads
This is my latest in How To Faux Videos DVD’s”Amazing Accents” series.
In this 1 hour video, I demonstrate a technique that once learned can be achieved in hundreds of color combinations that are only limited to the creative side of the individual. I have used this personally for some of my top designs as a starting point for even more customized looks
Wall Painting Made Easy
Starting with the basics of base paint is a good idea with this instructional where I show some simple “tricks of the trade” and basic tools that will make this chore much easier, cleaner and faster. If you’re still using a “rolling pan” watch this preview and throw that rolling pan away.
To me, it’s just an accident waiting to happen!
“Trompe Loeil Foil”
In this instructional DVD, there are a number of techniques that I use to create this finish and have successfully resold this look over and over again
weather it was just one part of it or as a whole. Check out this preview and the links below where
I have posted a completed cabinet design done entirely with this same technique
a color value study
Then of course you can’t have a set of instructional DVDs without one on marbling and in this DVD is about using color value to create depth and volume along with a technique that is easy to understand and do. This is a one-color “Fantasy Marble” done with three different color values and a basic understanding of the importance of it when studying color theory. This DVD was recorded on an actual job so as to show how I execute this type of technique.
“This Link will take you to the post I made after”
marbling these columns
“Tissue Faux Texture”
“How to apply a tissue finish”
This “faux finishing idea” is one of my favorites because once it is applied you can change the look without changing the texture. It seems this is always an “In” kind of faux finish that works with any trend or “new look” that comes about
Again this instructional was recorded on-site during the application process and I have a ton of tips in this
“90 Minute Dual Disc DVD”
“How to apply tissue to moldings”
“Making seamless join lines”
and the number one question I get in my emails is
“How do you get a straight line against moldings?”
Faux Tortoise Shell
A unique tortoiseshell design
done a little bit differently than in the traditional sense
Tortoise Shell has a look all its own and until the mid to late 1970’s it was harvested for it’s beauty and durability.
Did you know they use to make guitar picks from the “Hawksbill tortoiseshell“? It was nearly harvested into extinction and is now a protected species. With the “Pennshell” now taking its place for inlaid furniture pieces or it is just rendered with a faux finish technique which is what I have done with this instructional DVD.
After everything is said and done I think you will enjoy these
How To Faux Previews
I am updating this post on 8/24/2020 to let you know that I am rebuilding this website and have had some major changes since this post was written as you can already tell. The digital downloads are no longer available and I have stopped selling the current issue of the DVDs. If you still want a DVD in the current format I do have a few leftover.
